Preceding the WTISD celebrations, BoFiNet commemorated International Girls in ICT Day with a series of impactful activities in Kasane. They hosted a comprehensive virtual cybersecurity training session, targeting two key groups: 52 girls from Form 1 to Form 3 at Chobe Junior Secondary School and 32 ladies from Chobe Brigade. This training aimed to enhance digital safety awareness and equip participants with essential cybersecurity skills.
The training covered critical topics such as understanding and recognizing phishing attempts, creating strong passwords, and maintaining privacy settings. Participants learned best practices for safe internet browsing and strategies to protect personal information from cyber threats. The session highlighted the importance of updating software and using secure networks to safeguard against attackers, scammers, and hackers.
BoFiNet’s cybersecurity training emphasized the benefits of cyber literacy for all ages. By gaining a deeper understanding of cyber threats and how to avoid them, participants can significantly reduce their risk of falling victim to cyber crimes. The training empowered individuals to navigate the digital world confidently, contributing to the overall safety of their communities by promoting safe online behaviors.
For the girls at Chobe JSS, the training aligned perfectly with the goals of Girls in ICT Day, inspiring them to pursue careers in ICT and enhancing their digital literacy. For the ladies at Chobe Brigade, the training provided valuable skills for both personal and professional use, essential in today’s digital age.
