Botswana Fibre Networks (BoFiNet), the leading telecommunications infrastructure provider in
Botswana, will on Wednesday 9th of August 2023, officially launch the Oodi to Machaneng optic
fibre project at Oodi kgotla from 08:30 – 10:30 am.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be graced by the Honourable Minister of Communications,
Knowledge, and Technology, Mr. Thulagano Segokgo, who will preside over the event. In
special attendance will be the Honourable Dr Peyavali Mushelenga, the Minister of Information
and Communications Technology in the Republic of Namibia.
The Oodi to Machaneng optic fibre project is a significant initiative undertaken by BoFiNet with
the support of the Government through the Ministry of Communications, Knowledge and
Technology, in line with the commitment to transform Botswana's telecommunications
landscape and drive digital connectivity across the nation. The project aims to deploy state-of-
the-art optic fibre infrastructure that will span through 15 villages being, Oodi, Modipane,
Dikwididi, Mabalane, Sikwane, Mmathubudukwane, Ramonaka, Malolwane, Oliphant’s Drift,
Ramotlabaki, Mmaphashalala, Dovedale, Kudumatse, Makwate, and Machaneng; as well
asParrs Halt Border Post.
The project will establish a robust and high-speed optic fibre network, ensuring seamless
connectivity and bridging the digital divide in underserved areas, bringing reliable connectivity
to schools, health care facilities and Government premises in these areas.
